The International GEO-Innovation Center faculty, Dr. Chris Justice and Dr. Krishna Vadrevu, were organizers for the Training Workshop on Fundamentals of Remote Sensing and Applications held in Phnom Penh, Cambodia from Feb 8th - 10th, 2023. This workshop was organized as part of the NASA LCLUC Program - South/Southeast Asia Research Initiative (SARI) initiative.

The training workshop was attended by sixty-five participants from South/Southeast Asia including university students, and researchers at government and non-government organizations. The workshop introduced participants to the use of remote sensing and geospatial technologies focusing on Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) and Optical datasets for forestry, agricultural, and water resource applications. The interactive sessions combined theoretical lectures with hands-on tutorials on basic and advanced methods using open-source software and tools.  

This workshop was sponsored by the NASA LCLUC program and the University of Tokyo, Japan and was hosted at the Royal University of Agriculture, Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
